Ride and Glide Club Information

2007-2008 Season

We are starting the first Tuesday in November. There will most likely not be snow by this time. That's OK because we want a few sessions on dryland to properly introduce beginners to the techniques, which are better taught on grass, and to review the basics for the veterans. We are assuming that there will be snow by the week following Thanksgiving. Historically the first day of one inch snow cover in the Twin Cities is Nov 22. If we don't make that we'll do dryland until the snow flies. This year we plan on adding more structured workouts to the teaching process, especially in the more advanced groups. Once the students have proven that they can execute the different technique aspects we will go into a workout using drills to practice these new skills so they become second nature and so you get a workout at the same time. If students don't feel comfortable doing them as a workout then there will be groups that will work more on just plain technique and analysis.

We will meet inside upstairs at the Como Golf Club house each night at 6:30pm.   If there is a lecture or presentation scheduled it will be held here, if not, then after a short organizational meeting on the nights subject we will go outside for the night's work.  The class schedule and lecture list can be seen on the schedule link below. The R & G road trip to the U.P. will also happen again. It will be the first weekend after New Years, so mark your calendars. Any other trip ideas are welcome as long as someone else plans them. A trend seems to be developing for two other trips. They have happened each of the last three years. The first is trip to ABR in the UP over Thanksgiving for early skiing on real snow. The other is a two day trip to the Seeley Classic followed by a Sunday ski day on the Birke trail. The Seeley trip is becoming one of the favorite ski outings during the winter. See below for additional information.

If you're itching to get started, before November, contact Steve Thatcher at the e-mail on the front page.  Many of us will be doing dryland and roller skiing workouts starting in mid September until it snows.
