The Time Trial For The Common Man

 (uncommon too)

July 22 5:30, Withrow School

Bike racing can be intimidating.  It can also be dangerous with all those other riders around you and crashes are always a possibility.  That's why a lot of riders like Time Trials.  It's just you and the road and much less chance for crashing.  But even that can be intimidating for casual bike riders.  All those super fast people with disk wheels, aero bars and fancy bikes going 25-30 mph.

So to address this problem we are going to hold a Time Trial for the Common Man.  You don't have to be a racer.  All you need is a bike and a helmet and a love of cycling.  Sure all the hot shots will be out there but we hope to have all sorts of other bike categories.  Road bikes, Fat Bikes, Mtn Bikes, Cruisers, City Bikes, Recumbent, Trikes, Tandems, you name it.  Just come out, bring your bike and have a good time on the quiet roads of Washington County in the Withrow Area.  There should be other riders who are just out for a nice ride so you'll have company, at the start at least, You won't be alone.

We want to encourage any new traditional riders who may not have done the Withrow TT in the past to come out and try it as well.   Lots of friendly people afterwards to talk to about cycling in Washington County. The best roads in the area for cycling

The course is a 13 mile loop on one of the best TT courses in the Mertro Area.  We send out riders every 30 seconds and we typically have 60-80 participants,  All non-traditional and new riders are guaranteed a pair of Now Bikes and Fitness cycling socks as an incentive to participate.  We have 50 pair of socks and the remainder will be used in a random drawing for the rest of the regular riders.  Who knows you may find a new activity for your Summer

You need to register with the Ride and Glide bike club, if you aren't already a member, at www.rideandglide.org/cgi-bin/form_input.pl  (Select Join Summer)  The $5-$10 membership fee will be waived for all non-traditional riders.  (You know who you are)

After you're registered you need to sign up for the TT.  Do that at www.rideandglide.org/cgi-bin/form_input.pl (Select TT_3 registration).  Be sure to fill in what type of bike you are riding and if speed isn't important to you just select the (A lot less then 19mph) category.
